Journey to 2030 Film Club

Directed by Frank Capra (1946) starring James Stewart and Donna Reed.

Intro:
Acknowledging the feelings of despair that can often accompany the Christmas season, this beloved, family-friendly film offers a response which is as joyful and uplifting as it is metaphysical and Christian.

Fun Fact:
It’s a Wonderful Life was a box office failure on its release in 1946, but is now considered a classic.

Plot:
George Bailey (played by Stewart) is a good person whose dreams of leaving his small home town have been frustrated by circumstances and his own own noble character. When a colleague’s error dooms his family business, he decides to commit suicide. However an angel appears to him to convince him against the deed – Clarence, the angel, will earn his wings if he manages to save George in this way. When George says it would have been better if he had never been born, Clarence shows him what his family and community would be like if he had never existed.
