Care of creation retreat at Boarbank Hall Cumbria

“The Joy of Limits”

27th – 31st May 2025

The retreat is led by:
Sr Margaret Atkins of Boarbank Hall (canonesses of St Augustine) and John Paul de Quay of the Ecological Conversion Group.

The talks aim to make accessible themes of the social doctrine of the Church on care for creation. We will focus on slowing down and making room for Christ in our busy lives and finding joy in the little things.

We will discuss:
• What is enough?
• Art and the power of limits.
• Respecting God’s laws and structures.
• Human limits and the incarnation.

Optional Activities include: walks, birdwatching, gardening, film evenings, artwork workshops. All set in the rhythm of Mass and sung Prayer of the Church with the Boarbank Community.

Cost: 5 days £360-400 for an individual room or £600 for a twin or double. £640 for a family room. Donation towards cost of course is optional (reductions offered as needed).
